This summer, Jasper and I decided to go to the Island for a one-night camping trip. We took the ferry from Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay in Nanaimo then from there, we drove 15 minutes to get to Brannen Lake.
“West Coast Paradise nestled amongst a luscious forest of mature trees, creeks & streams featuring a beautiful private beach on Brannen Lake” (x)
What I like about Brannen Lake:
1. Free wifi
2. Hot showers and flush toilets. (Flush toilets are a must when I go camping. haha)
3. Private beach!
4. Picnic tables and fire rings are available in all sites. Yay for campfires. (but please be very careful with it)
Our dinner: Steak (store bought), corn, and potatoes with beef chili.
Jas decided to go for morning walk around the area while I was sleeping. These two photos were my favourite:
PARKSVILLE, BC: SAND SCULPTING COMPETITION
This one definitely got our vote.
This is a first for us. A friend of mine told me that Parksville held a Sand Sculpting event until August. We decided to check out the event and it was awesome! All the displays are ridiculously good and the designs are intricate.
To get in, admissions are by donation. Recommended donation is $3. But some people would just go in without giving any.
